Lift up your team in the moment.

Big Ups is peer recognition where you work. When someone on your team does something awesome (big or small), you want to let them know. Send a big up directly in Slack in seconds, and never lose that moment again. Read through them later for a team retro, performance review, or just a feel good moment.

A few minutes to install, and no card. Free to start, and $3 a month for each person on your roster, plus any applicable sales tax, when your team realizes how much they love it. There is no setup fee, no minimum term and no annual commitment.

Easy to send, kept for good, no games

Send from anywhere

The compose panel for sending a big up: a recipient field and a message box.

A slash command in Slack, or the web app if you prefer. It lands in a public channel, in their DMs, and in their feed.

It sticks around

The recognition feed with its filter panel open, showing filters for person, value and date range above the first matching big up.

Every big up is kept and searchable. Useful in a one-to-one, and considerably more useful at review time.

No games

One big up: Jamie Okonkwo thanks Wen Zhao for spending most of a day helping with something outside her own work, tagged with the value Generosity and carrying three reactions.

No streak to keep alive, no rank to defend, and nothing telling anyone they are behind. Just genuine recognition.

See everything Big Ups does

Nothing here is compelled.

Nobody is prompted, nudged or scored, and nothing tells anyone they are behind.

That is on purpose. A message sent to clear a balance or hold a rank is worth nothing to the person who receives it, and everybody involved knows it. What arrives in your Slack arrived because somebody chose to send it.

We bill for the people on your roster, not for the messages they send. On a paid plan, nothing anyone sends changes what you pay.

High-quality recognition keeps people.

Gallup and Workhuman tracked nearly 3,500 employees from 2022 to 2024. Those who received high-quality recognition were 45% less likely to have turned over two years later. Their criteria for high quality include being authentic rather than a checklist exercise, and personal rather than one size fits all. Associations from data, not proof of cause.

  • The better the recognition, the stronger the effect.

Employees currently receiving high-quality recognition, by Gallup and Workhuman's measure, are 65% less likely to be looking for another job than those receiving lower-quality recognition. Associations from data, not proof of cause.

  • The arithmetic is not close.

Gallup puts the cost of replacing someone in a technical role at about 80% of their salary. One $120,000 engineer is roughly $96,000. Fifty people on Big Ups is $1,800 a year.
