Add Big Ups to your workspace.

Slack will show you this list on its own permission screen. Here it is first, in our words, with the reason for each one.

Post in the channel you choose

Big Ups posts each big up in one public channel you pick, and joins that channel so it can. It also sends the person being thanked a direct message, unless they have turned it off, so a big up does not depend on them reading the channel that day.

See your public channels and who is in them

So you can pick channels from a list instead of typing them exactly, and so Big Ups can see who is in the channels you choose for your roster. This is who is in a channel, never what is said in it.

Add the /bigup command

This is the whole of what makes /bigup exist in a workspace. Slack grants it here or not at all.

Who is in your workspace, and their email addresses

Names, profile photos and email addresses. Your roster is chosen from these people, and the email address is what matches a person in Slack to the same person on the web.

Your workspace's name and address

So your organization arrives named after your workspace, instead of asking you to type in something you have already told Slack.

The team and manager custom profile fields

Custom profile fields are where a workspace records someone's department and who they report to, usually filled in by an HR sync. Big Ups reads and stores them where they exist. Where they are not filled in, nothing changes and nothing breaks.

Upload and remove images of its own

This lets Big Ups add an image alongside a post it makes, and remove that image again if the post is later deleted. It reaches only files Big Ups itself uploaded; it cannot read, list or touch anything already in your workspace.

What is not on the list is worth saying as well. Big Ups asks for no access to your message history and none to your private channels. It cannot post as you, and it cannot see a conversation it has not been invited into.
